2019 Kia Sorento vs 2020 Kia Telluride

Serving Columbus, OH

The 2019 Kia Sorento and Telluride are two of the most comfortable and capable midsize crossovers on the road. As two crossovers from the same segment and automaker, the Sorento and Telluride have a lot in common. But it’s their differences that will help you choose the right crossover for your family. Check out our comparison guide to learn more.

The 2019 Kia Sorento offers two engine options. On the Sorento L and LX trim models, you’ll find the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It makes 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque for a pretty speedy ride. If you prefer extra power, check out the 3.3-liter V6 engine. Optional on the LX and standard on the EX, SX, and SX Limited, this V6 quenches your need for speed with 290 horses and 252 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, the Sorento can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The all-new Telluride was designed with more exceptional luxury in mind. And, in the world of crossovers, luxury is synonymous with power. Every Telluride trim comes with the same athletic powertrain: a 3.8-liter V6 engine and a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. The V6 produces 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque for rugged performance. And, like the Sorento, the Telluride offers all-wheel drive for extra traction on light trails and wet roads. Properly equipped, this Kia crossover can also two 5,000 pounds, making it equally attractive to boat owners.

The 2019 Kia Sorento is home to classic crossover style. Its high stance gives you an excellent view of the road. From the front end, you’ll know you’re looking at a Kia, with its trademark grille and headlight designs.

The 2019 Kia Telluride is a crossover of a different color. Its bold styling is a major attraction, and a big part of the reason it had everyone talking when it debuted at the Chicago Auto Show. Its more muscular front end gives it a rugged vibe. And the Telluride’s blocky headlights design makes it easy to spot in a crowd.

In terms of comfort and convenience, the 2019 Kia Sorento and Telluride have a lot in common. Both offer Kia’s excellent Uvo infotainment system, which includes complete smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Uvo also consists of a touchscreen that’s both intuitive and responsive – features that come in handy when you’re driving.

However, the Telluride is the classier crossover with luxury features like leather upholstery and stylish cabin trim, compete with more expensive crossovers in the midsize segment. While the Sorento does offer upscale comfort features, it’s designed for people who want to spend less on roomy, family-friendly transportation.
