Kia debuted the Telluride for the 2020 model year as its largest SUV yet, and immediately the new ride wowed critics and consumers alike with its large cargo area, gentle ride, and a ton of safety features. Split into LX, S, EX, and SX trim; this midsize SUV is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It is pinned to an electronically controlled 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with the option of getting an all-wheel drivetrain instead. Inside the cabin are three rows of seats to accommodate up to seven people (with a pair of second-row captain’s chairs) or eight people (with a second bench-style seat), depending on which trim you choose. Trims above the base-level LX are likely to get leather seat trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, front-seat heating and cooling, 10 or 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support, a driver-seat memory system.
Comfort and convenience features include smart cruise control, a smart key system with push-button engine start, a 3.5-inch TFT trip computer, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a six-speaker stereo system, five USB ports and an audio jack, UVO infotainment integration, and an 8-inch touchscreen display. Upper-level trims are more likely to include features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen display (instead of the 8-inch), a 64-color mood lighting system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Quiet Mode to channel sound to just the first row of seats, a garage-door opener, rear passenger automatic temperature control, Driver Talk system to communicate with second- and third-row passengers, a dual-zone automatic temperature control with an automatic de-fog system, an extra USB port, a 7-inch TFT color display (in place of the 3.5-inch), wireless phone charging, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system.
For safety, the 2020 Telluride comes with features such as a seven-airbag system, electronic stability control, an anti-lock braking system on the four-wheel disc brakes, rear occupant alert and safe exit assist, hill start assist control, a rearview camera, and torque vectoring cornering control. Driver-assistance tech consists of driver attention warning, rear blind-spot collision avoidance assist, reverse parking distance warning, forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane following assist, forward parking distance warning (in addition to reverse), lane-keep assist, and a surround-view camera (in place of the rearview one). Enhancing the upper-level trims are a blind-spot view monitor and highway driving assist.
